Since we did not have our regular politics lecture today (because of an online exam we were supposed to do instead) my lecturer for seminar moved our seminar up to 11:15am. My plan was to wake up in time to get the exam done before seminar but it turns out the professor didn't set it up right and no one was able to get into it yet. So...I went to seminar which was just as thrilling as always and then the teacher, Maire, met up with me after for awhile to help me go over the questions that would be most easiest for me to write my essays on and tried to help me make outlines a little. She is a major help!
After that he finally got the exam up and running so I came back to my room and took it and actually did fairly well this time, especially compared to the last one haha. Just glad that's out of the way and all I have left to worry about is turn in my coursework (which is already done, I just need to hand it in) and these three essays that make up my final.
The essays are really what's worrying me the most even though the sociology final is sooner than these essays are due. I know I can easily get through the sociology final but these essays and worrying about what to write or where to find information I figured the best thing for me to do at this point was to just power through as much as I could.
When I had finished my online exam from home I started working on the essay on the topic of Constitutions which was, "What is the role and purpose of a constitutional monarchy in a 21st century Liberal Democracy? Suggest possible reforms that have been debated." If this doesn't sound like information I'm learning that I'll never need again I don't know what else does...but I managed to write that entire essay and emailed it to Maire. She said she would look over my essays and make suggestions which was very nice of her. ONE ESSAY DOWN! Then, Ally emailed me saying she was ready to go to the library so we headed there. In the library I managed to write my second essay on Democracy which was, "Examine at least TWO competing theories of democracy, critically addressing their perspectives on the role and function of democracy." This essay I don't feel like is quite as good as the first one that I wrote, so I haven't emailed it to Maire yet thinking I may change some things. But...knowing how much I really don't care about this class I'm guessing I'll just wait til tomorrow sometime and send it to her when I've come to the conclusion that it's as good as it's going to get. TWO ESSAYS DOWN!! Now I'm stuck on the third essay. Maire talked me into thinking it was going to be an easy one and it will in some senses but in others it's going to be tough and I just don't know where to come up with the facts. It's on Electoral Systems and the question is, "Citing real world examples, examine the strengths and weaknesses of systems of proportional representation." It's easy to come up with the strengths and weaknesses because they are pretty much directly outlined in one of my textbooks...the hard part is going to be coming up with the examples that go with those strengths and weaknesses. I've managed to get through about 500 words and they each have to be approx. 1200 so I'm getting there but I've stopped for tonight. I want to go to the library tomorrow and get some of the information from a few other textbooks as they grade on your variety of sources too so I have a good excuse to stop. AND...as a reward for all the hard work I accomplished today I let myself order pizza! Now I'm just waiting on it to get here and skyping my lovely Kay and this is turning into a lovely night. :)
