Tonight was my farewell dinner with IFSA. It was just Tim for the IFSA staff that came up and only me and the two Katie's but it was still a great dinner! I was VERY late... Dinner was to be at 6:30pm so I had called the taxi company earlier today to ask them to pick me up at 6pm. Nights if you just call when you want one can take quite a bit as they are busy. My taxi didn't show up at the student village until 6:30 and then the traffic was so yucky that it took until 7:15 to get to the restaurant!!!
The three were practically done with there dinners by the time I got there...but I just ate while their dinners settled to make room for dessert and I just had to push through the whole thing at once (amazing food though so it wasn't hard). The restaurant was called Conor Cafe and I had the lasagna and chips for my dinner and the banoffee pie (Finally! I've looked at it on the menu every restaurant I've been to!). This isn't something you back in the states have probably heard of but it's a very common dessert here. It's a pie with some type of cookie or shortbread type crust and then bananas toffee and whipping cream over the top ((Banana-ana)+(Toffee-T) = Banoffee!!). Phenomenal! I'll probably need it for a dessert sometime when my parents are here...this dessert can not be my only banoffee pie my whole trip! Probably something I could easily make back home too. :)
Now that I'm home from dinner I did something tonight that makes me feel a lot better and it's just something silly. I have had a heavy purse this whole time from ALLLL the change I've acquired while being here and a lot of it is pennies and 2 pence coins that I just get and then never use. This whole semester it's usually the same two ladies working in our student village convenient store and so I've gotten to know them and so I didn't have to feel weird going in there tonight to buy a soda and candy and pay the 2 pound 20 completely in small change. I was able to use it all up but 3 five pence coins and 5 pennies which is SOOOOO much better! That was really the only way I was going to get rid of them without wasting them because the banks will not exchange your coins for USD, which is really annoying, but now I don't have that to worry about!
My parents now get here in just three days and they will be here the morning of the third day so it's more like two!!!!!!
